Clothier: Spice is the spice of life

Many years ago, perhaps in the mid-1960s, Richard Burton recited a poem I heard on the radio. Here are a few lines that I still recall: "But as for me/I'd rather be/A happy man, contented man/A married man." What was the name of the poem?

It's not a poem; it's a song titled "A Married Man" from the Broadway musical "Baker Street" (1965). Richard Burton never appeared in the show, but he did record the song while married to Elizabeth Taylor for the first time.

Friends recently returned from a visit to Nashville, Tenn. They took a lot of street pictures. More than one restaurant featured Nashville hot chicken. Neither of my friends likes spicy food, so they didn't try this local delicacy. What is it? Both my husband and I enjoy hot foods.

There is no one recipe for Nashville hot chicken other than it's made spicy and hot. The chicken breast or thigh is marinated, coated and fried. Somewhere on the recipe list is cayenne pepper. Some serve it on top of bread, others between slices of bread. In the beginning of July, the annual Music City Hot Chicken Festival takes place in East Park. Check it out. If you have Internet access, search for recipes and let me know how you like the hot chicken. Oh, I'm told a new dish gaining popularity is hot fish, made the same way as hot chicken.
